Referencing Tools

Useful tools for managing citations and organising sources

Reference Generators

Reference generators are quick and easy tools for creating one-off citations or short bibliographies. They have a menu of referencing and citation styles, so it is important to select the style required by your course and assignment, i.e. Falmouth Harvard.

Popular Reference Generators - for quick, one-off references

Tool Key Features

Library Search

The Falmouth University Library catalogue includes a “Cite” button that lets you easily copy a one-off formatted reference for a book or article in a variety of citation styles - the default style is Falmouth Harvard style.

If you login to your Falmouth Library account, you can also pin and save resources.

ZoteroBib Free, browser-based citation generator that lets you quickly create and export bibliographies without needing an account or software installation.
MyBib

Free, user-friendly, browser-based citation generator that supports multiple styles including Falmouth Harvard style.

Additional features include a browser extension for creating citations from the web; and an import button for importing references from the library catalogue using .ris file format. This allows you to collate resources into one list of references.

MyBib allows you to create an account and has some of the functionality of more powerful reference management tools - many undergraduates find this limited functionality is all they need. It also comes highly recommended by the ASK Academic Skills team!
